Are Cash App ATM Withdrawals Free? (You Need to Know This)

Written By Adrian Volenik

Do you need to get some money from your Cash App account but don’t want to pay additional fees? We have good news and bad news for you.

Cash App only has free ATM withdrawals if you get $300 or more direct deposited into your Cash App account. If you don’t, you can use any ATM with a Cash App fee of $2-2.5 plus any ATM fees charged by the third party.

What Are The Cash App ATM Fees?

You can use your Cash App Card to withdraw money from any ATM using your Cash PIN. Yes, just like with other bank cards, Cash Cards work at any ATM, but you will have to pay a fee of $2-2.50 that’s charged by Cash App.

We all know that that’s not the final cost though because most ATMs charge their own additional fees.

That’s a shame because we know that many other digital banks partner with All Point and other similar companies to give you free in-network withdrawals.

They will still charge you out-of-network ATM fees so if you aren’t close to one of their ATMs, that won’t work for you as well.

There is a way of getting free Cash App ATM withdrawals, however.

To get free ATM withdrawals with Cash App, you will have to get $300 in paychecks deposited directly into Cash App. Each qualifying deposit you receive will add 31 days of ATM fee refunds.

Okay, these won’t be technically free ATM withdrawals because you’re still paying the fees but you get them refunded by Cash App. Still, if you’re often withdrawing cash, it’s good to know about this option.

You won’t get unlimited free withdrawals as well because Cash App will only refund fees for three ATM withdrawals per 31 days. The refund will include up to $7 in fees per withdrawal.

Setting Up Direct Deposits in Cash App

If you haven’t dealt with direct deposits yet, you will have to either set it up in the app or fill out a form that you can get in Cash App itself and send it via email to your employer.

  3. Tap the routing and account number below your balance
  4. Tap “Copy Account Details”

What Are The Cash App Withdrawal Limits?

withdrawal at atm

Unfortunately, Cash App imposes some serious withdrawal limits no matter if you’re withdrawing from an ATM or getting cash back at a store. The limits are as follows:

  • $310 per transaction
  • $1,000 per 24-hour period
  • $1,000 per 7-day period

Doesn’t seem like much, does it? However, Cash App wasn’t made to copy banks. It’s first and foremost a mobile payments app you should use to send and receive money to and from your friends and family.

You should definitely not use Cash App to store thousands of dollars. I wouldn’t even recommend having your proper bank account connected at all times.

Some people have their side-hustle money come in through a personal Cash App account. It’s far better to get a business Cash App account or even better, a proper digital banking business account with all the features and benefits you need.

Cash Back vs. ATM Withdrawals

Apart from getting cash from an ATM, you can also get cashback in a retail store. This is a great workaround for ATM fees because there are still many retailers and merchants that don’t charge fees when getting cashback.

There is one annoying thing about getting cashback though. Every time you get it counts towards your ATM withdrawal limits. Why is that limit implemented is beyond me.

Cash back also doesn’t count towards your Cash App Boosts.
