How to Transfer Stocks to Another Broker
Alternatively, you can transfer all or some of your stocks to an external broker. There will be a hefty $75 fee charged for all completed outbound stock transfers.
Cash App can only transfer whole shares. Any fractional shares you own, you’ll have to sell before deleting the Cash App account.
To transfer your whole stocks, follow the instructions that the receiving broker provided to you as they are the ones initiating the account transfer with Cash App’s broker, DriveWealth, LLC.
If the transfer form asks for a “DTC” participant number, the DTC number for this ACATS transaction is 3856.

You can find a trade confirmation if you:

Why Aren’t Some Cash App Users Happy With The Service?
As you can see on this Trustpilot screenshot, there are many bad reviews for Cash App. Mind you, there are tens of millions of Cash App users. So, three thousand, or so, bad reviews aren’t that many, though.
However, not every disgruntled user will be reviewing Cash App on Trustpilot. I’m sure there are many others.
What bothers the most people seems to be customer support or the lack of it. This is a major pain point for many digital banks that grew too quickly and don’t hire enough customer services agents.
On the other side, reading through these negative reviews, it’s obvious that many people’s issues stem from not knowing how the platform works.
Because Cash App payments are final and usually can’t be canceled, you should be VERY careful to type in the correct recipient information as well as make sure the person on the other side is known to you and not a scammer.
All financial institutions also have to abide by the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism laws and that can make life difficult for some users as it can extend their money sending and receiving duration.

Cash App Alternative
If you’re considering closing your Cash App account, there are many great alternatives out there. However, we have one that we can wholeheartedly recommend to you.
- Free online signup
- 30-day trial
- Early Direct Deposit
- Free $100 overdraft
- Points and cashback
- Instant Current transfers
- Cash deposits at 60k stores
- Free ATM withdrawals
- Gas hold refunds
- Mobile check deposit
- Teen Banking
However, Current offers many benefits to its users and is actually a useful digital bank account that has almost no fees, no minimum balance, instant and free transfers, overdraft with no fees, savings account, budgeting features, early access to direct deposit, annoying gas station authorizations immediately credited, and more.
To sign up, all you need is SSN and an address. After that, you’ll get a debit card that will earn you cash back at 14,000+ merchants and access to over 40,000 fee-free ATMs.
What Current isn’t good at is international spending and ATM withdrawals. If you’re traveling abroad a lot or doing many international transactions, we can recommend you Wise. Wise is the top choice for both personal and business international bank transfers.
The summarize, we showed you how to close and delete your Cash App account, as well as how to cash out all your money, stocks, and Bitcoin beforehand.
Cash App certainly isn’t our top choice, but it’s extremely popular and it’s only natural that many users will be disgruntled with its service.
If there’s something that the company should work on, it’s certainly the customer service and trying to tackle all the scammers that are using the app.
