How to Convert Swagbucks into Cash App (Workaround)

You finally earned enough Swagbucks (SB) to redeem them for gift cards or convert them to cash. But how do you convert them into Cash App? Can you even send your funds directly from Swagbucks to Cash App? Here’s the short answer.

It isn’t possible to convert Swagbucks to Cash App or even to convert them directly to cash without the help of PayPal.

So, that’s it? We can’t send SB to Cash App at all? Well, not exactly. Keep on reading for a workaround. 

How to Convert Swagbucks Into Cash App (Via PayPal)

Swagbucks is all about earning points (Swagbucks or SB). You typically get them when you:  

1. Search the web
2. Shop online 
3. Answer surveys 
4. Discover great deals
5. Play games

Why can’t you simply earn money straightaway? Why do you have to earn points and then convert them into gift cards? I don’t have an exact answer for you, but it probably has something to do with Federal law, regulations, and taxes. 

It’s also probably made like that on purpose as well, so it’s more complicated for users. 

Nevertheless, there are three separate steps we need to do in order to get Swagbucks points to our Cash App account:

1. Redeem SB for PayPal Cash
2. Connect PayPal and Cash App
3. Send funds to Cash App

1. Redeem Swagbucks for PayPal Cash

To redeem your points for PayPal cash, you need to ensure that everything is set up correctly so there are no delays or even lost money. Here’s what we need to do:

1. Ensure your first and last name on Swagbucks matches your first and last name precisely on your PayPal account
2. Ensure your email address on Swagbucks matches the email address on your PayPal account
3. Ensure that PayPal account is linked and confirmed by a bank account

Regarding the names matching on both sites, you can check your PayPal name here on PayPal’s website. Likewise, to check your email address on PayPal, go here.   

In case your Swagbucks email and PayPal email aren’t matching, you’ll need to add the email you use for Swagbucks. Luckily, you can add more than one email to PayPal.

Lastly, your PayPal dashboard needs to show the status: “Confirmed” after you connect your bank account with it. To see if that’s really the case, visit this PayPal page. 

After you check these three things once, you don’t have to worry about them anymore. We can now move on to connecting PayPal and Swagbucks accounts. 

Once you choose to redeem SB for PayPal on the Swagbucks website, you have to click the blue button that says “Connect with Paypal”. It’s to ensure the money is going to the right PayPal account.

When you click on the “Connect with Paypal” button, you’ll go to a new page on the PayPal website where you have to log in with your PayPal email address and password.

After you successfully log in and link your account, you will go back to the Swagbucks website to finalize the redemption. 

After you’ve confirmed your SB redemption, the PayPal funds will be transferred to your account within a few days. Don’t worry, you don’t have to check constantly, as you’ll be notified from both Swagbucks and PayPal.

2. Connect PayPal and Cash App

Okay, now we need to connect our PayPal and Cash App accounts. 

Send Money From PayPal to Your Bank Account

First, we’ll have to link a bank account to PayPal (If you don’t already have one linked):

1. Go to ‘Money’
2. Click ‘Link a bank’ or tap Menu, then Banks and Cards on the app
3. Search for your bank or select one from a list
4. Enter your online banking details to link your bank account with your PayPal account instantly

Alternatively, click “Link your bank another way” at the base of the website. Then enter your bank details and click “Agree and Link.” 

This will give PayPal instructions to send 2 small deposits (less than $1) to your bank account. It can take up to 3 working days for them to be deposited. 

When you finally have them, take note and go to the Wallet page and enter the figures to verify that you’re indeed the owner of the bank account.

If you have previously linked a bank account:

1. Log into PayPal 
2. Click “Transfer Money”
3. Click “Transfer to your bank”
4. Enter the preferred amount
5. Double-check everything 
6. Click “Transfer Now”
7. Head to your “Wallet” on PayPal 
8. Click “Done”

3. Add Money to Cash App From Your Bank Account

Now we can transfer cash to our Cash App account from the bank account. To do this, we have to have a bank account associated with our Cash App. 

To add a bank to Cash App:

1. Open Cash App
2. Tap the “Banking tab” 
3. Select “Link Bank”
4. Follow the instructions to plug in the account and routing numbers
5. Authorize

If you already have a linked bank account, simply:

1. Open Cash App 
2. Go to your account balance
3. Tap on “Add Cash” 
4. Tap “Add” 
5. Use Touch ID or enter the PIN to verify the transfer

This concludes the whole process of exchanging Swagbucks for PayPal cash and moving the money into our Cash App account.

Granted, it’s a somewhat complex process with many steps, but this is the most effortless way to do it at the moment. Especially if you already have a PayPal and a Cash App account.

Alternative: Connect Your PayPal Account With Your Cash App Card

Cash Card is a debit card from Cash App that you can use just as you would any other Visa debit card. So, to connect PayPal and Cash Card directly and skip the bank account, we have to do the following steps.

1. Get The Cash App Routing Number

To connect Cash App as a bank account to PayPal, we need to know the routing and account numbers. To get them, we have to have a physical Cash App Card. Luckily, it’s free for all verified Cash App users. 

To order your card:

1. Open Cash App
2. Tap the “Cash Card” tab 
3. Press “Get Cash Card”
4. Tap “Continue”
5. Follow the steps

Once we have the card, we can get the routing and account numbers:

1. Open Cash App
2. Go to My Cash tab ($ symbol)
3. Tap the “Cash” button
4. Scroll down to the “Direct Deposit” 
5. Tap “Get Account Number”
6. Tap “Copy Account Details”
7. Select “Copy Routing Number” 

2. Add Your Cash App Card to PayPal

OK, now we can add our Cash Card to the PayPal account by following the steps:

1. Open PayPal website
2. Go to “Money”
3. Click “Link a new card”
4. Click on Visa from the list
5. Enter your card details to link your Cash App card with your PayPal account instantly
6. Click on the new card 
7. Click “Confirm card”
8. Click “Get Code” 
9. Click “Done”

To confirm your card, you need to enter the code. Have your 4-digit PayPal code handy and follow the actions below:

1. Go to “Money”
2. Click the card you want to verify
3. Enter the 4-digit PayPal code 
4. Click “Confirm”

Now that you have your Cash App card connected to your PayPal account, you can move your PayPal funds to the Cash App Card directly.

How to Find More Details on Swagbucks You’ve Earned

If you want to see more detailed information on how many SB you’ve earned, what you’ve earned SB from, and the date you earned SB, access your ledger by hovering over your name and profile picture. From there, select “My SB” and click on the Ledger tab.

The detailed information also includes your lifetime Swagbucks earned and how many of them you currently have.

Filter the information to see how many SB you’ve earned via Surveys, Shop & Earn, Searching, Swag Codes, and Special Offers.  

How Are Gift Cards Delivered to You?

Once you swap your SB for gift cards and your gift card order is fulfilled, you’ll get a notification by email. When you get the email:

1. Click through the email to see your Gift Card code
2. Enter your password to log into your account
3. You’re now able to access your gift card 

The email link you receive for your gift card is only valid for 24 hours.  After that passes, you have to go to “My Gift Cards” to request a new email. 

Conclusion

Swagbucks is a legit way of making some money. If you’re diligent, you can earn gift cards from major retailers. But if we want to exchange them for cash, our only option is to use PayPal to transfer the funds. 

Unfortunately, Cash App still isn’t an option here, and for that reason, we can’t convert Swagbucks to Cash App directly. However, where there is a will, there is a way.
