Trying to add your Venmo card to Apple Pay? It should be an easy task, right? Many users are trying to do exactly what you are and have hit a brick wall. Can you even add Venmo to Apple Pay?

There’s no way to add a Venmo card or account to Apple Pay at the moment. Apple doesn’t allow it. You can however add it to Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

Keep on reading to find ways of sending money to Apple Pay from Venmo, as well as how you can use Venmo with Google, yes, Google Pay on an Apple device.

Why Can’t You Add Venmo to Apple Pay?

Venmo has two types of cards – debit and credit cards. And, unfortunately, you can’t add either of them to Apple Pay.

However, it’s not Venmo’s fault. The cards work perfectly fine with Google and even Samsung Pay. For some reason, Apple doesn’t allow Venmo into its wallet app.

Is it because Venmo is such a fierce competitor? Perhaps. It’s anyone’s guess. But that doesn’t explain why Google Pay is allowed then.

How to Use Venmo With Google Pay on Apple Devices

Although Apple doesn’t allow Venmo to be added to Apple Wallet, it does allow Google Pay. And if we know that we can use Google Pay on Apple devices such as iPads and iPhones, it should be an easy way to bypass the whole issue, right?

Well, yes and no. You see, you can use Google Pay on Apple devices to manage your money, send and receive money, earn rewards and save money, and pay online.

You can’t use it to pay in-store with the tap-to-pay feature. You’ll still have to take out your physical Venmo card and pay with it.

There’s no way yet to sidestep the physical payments ban on Venmo by Apple.

Where Can You Use the Venmo Credit Card?

You can use your Venmo debit and credit cards everywhere Mastercard and Visa cards are accepted.

You can use them standalone or within the Venmo app. The cards are automatically added as a payment method in your Venmo app for payments to friends and authorized merchants.

The difference between the two cards is that the debit card only uses your Venmo balance while the credit card goes into debt when you use it and is subject to Venmo’s standard 3% fee when used to make person-to-person payments.

The debit card is also much easier to get. Basically, any Venmo user can order one while you have to be eligible to order the credit card.

If you’re still unyielding on using Venmo together with Apple Pay, the only solution is to add money, not the card, from Venmo to Apple Cash.

Apple Cash is a digital card in Apple Pay that acts just like any other debit card. You can use it to pay in-store, online, and in apps.

To add money from Venmo to Apple Cash and thus be able to use it with Pay, you will have to connect the same bank account to both Venmo and Apple Wallet.

All three accounts (Venmo, Wallet, and bank) have to be in the same name. Therefore, this is only appropriate if you’re transferring money to yourself.

Once you’ve linked your bank account to both Venmo and Apple Wallet, you can send money from Venmo to the bank account and then transfer it to Apple.

Add Bank Account to Venmo

It’s easy to add a bank account or debit card. All you have to do is find it in the list or enter its details manually.

  1. Go to the “You” tab by selecting the single-person icon
  2. Tap the Settings gear

When you link your bank account manually, Venmo will try to verify it by sending $1 transactions to your bank account.

Did you know that you can add all sorts of things to Apple Wallet, not just your debit or credit card?

You can add your tickets, boarding, and other passes and even share them. You use them as you would use your debit card, by tapping the phone or watch.

Apart from those, you can amazingly add a car key as well. You can then use the car key to lock and unlock your car, start it, and more depending on the model of your car.

To find out whether your car key is compatible, contact the manufacturer or your dealership.

Another thing to add is your driver’s license or state ID from a participating state. The ID is encrypted and guarded against tampering and theft and neither the state nor Apple can see when and where you’re using them.

In addition, you can also add your employee badge as well as COVID-19 vaccination information as a vaccination card. How about that!

Conclusion

Although it’s not possible to add your Venmo cards to the Apple Pay wallet, there are other ways of using it. You can use Google Pay, pay with a physical card, use the app to pay, or transfer money via a bank account to Apple Cash.
